About ClearBeing

The ClearBeing Centre is located on 32 acres in the Happy Valley area of King City, Ontario, Canada.

We are surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservation land, water & trails. With love, respect and thanks, we acknowledge that we are stewards of the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe & Wendat people. Come visit us for retreats, day programs, ongoing classes & community events. We also rent to outside facilitators and groups.

Our facility was originally built in 1961 and has recently been renovated into a stunning retreat centre that can accommodate 16 people for overnight stays (more if camping on the land is chosen as an option) and 50 people for in-person day events.

With high ceilings, picture windows on 3 sides, and gorgeous views of the gardens and forest, this building is where movement and meditation classes are held, as well as event gatherings.  Up to 40 yoga mats and 100 chairs can comfortably be accommodated. It has 3 bathrooms, a large atrium, and is equipped with a high-quality sound and audio visual system.

Our modern kitchen is where we prepare fresh and wholesome meals for our guests, as well as offering hands on nutrition & food preparation classes. The dining hall overlooks the pond from above, and is graced with stone walls and an expansive fire place with cozy spots to sit and enjoy the warmth on cooler days.

Relax, reflect, read or write in one of our two comfortable lounges with large windows and majestic views of the forest and grounds.

Access this quiet meditation and reflection space from the lower deck with peaceful views of the pond and forested valley.

Located by the pond, this craftsman-built, wood-fired outdoor sauna is perfect for individuals or groups, gatherings and ceremonies.

There are several kilometers of marked trails on the ClearBeing land which visitors are welcome to enjoy. Stop to appreciate the pond or meadow, or pause on a bench in the forest. We are also surrounded by the extensive Happy Valley Trail system maintained by the Nature Conservancy which can be accessed by a short walk down the 17th sideroad.

In the warm months enjoy quiet time in our gardens, a restful place to connect with nature. Being in our first years, we are slowly but surely establishing food and flower gardens, as well as a greenhouse, and plan on being as self-sustaining as possible. Many of the meals you eat here will have vegetables, fruit, herbs and wild foods grown on the ClearBeing land. Get involved through volunteering, and/or look for our workshops and retreats that offer education around self-sustainable living.

The Retreat House has several wooden decks with glass railings, so that you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding land, pond and forest under open skies. These areas can be used to enjoy a meal or a sunset, to read or reflect, or to hold gatherings and movement classes.

Although the residents of ClearBeing have dogs and you will likely meet them during your stay, for the comfort of guests, please leave your animals at home.

Many of our activities take place outdoors so be sure to bring clothing suitable for the season and all types of weather.

We suggest wearing comfortable layered clothing particularly for retreats where there is movement. When sitting for longer periods as in meditation retreat, it’s also helpful to wear loose fitting or stretchy  clothing.

For meditation retreats please dress modestly. Midriffs and thighs should be covered.

ClearBeing is a fragrance-free environment

Exposure to perfumes and other scented products can trigger very serious health reactions in individuals with asthma, allergies, migraines or multiple chemical sensitivities.

The health effects of fragrances – ranging in severity from mild to debilitating – can include: headaches, migraines, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath and wheezing. For some people, especially those with asthma and other respiratory disorders, exposure to fragrances can trigger the need for emergency medical treatment.

Perfumes and colognes are considered the most concentrated form of fragrance, however fragrances can be found in a wide range of products including soaps, shampoos, deodorants, hairsprays and cosmetics. To protect our community members with chemical sensitivities, we ask for your cooperation in helping to create a ‘scent-free’ environment:

Avoid wearing scented personal care products such as perfume, cologne, aftershave, scented lotions or creams for the body, face or hands. Most brands have fragrance-free products available.

ClearBeing is a smoke free-environment.  If you wish to vape or smoke cigarettes, please enquire about and visit our designated outdoor smoking areas.

ClearBeing is an alcohol- and recreational drug-free environment.

While we recognize the benefits of the use of medicinal plants in ceremonial settings, our expertise lies in providing an environment where people can experience their capacity for deep presence and radiant insights in the midst of ordinary moments. Through our various offerings, we are honored to create space for you to integrate your plant-medicine experiences.

We suggest that you let go of technology during your stay at ClearBeing in order to meet yourself and your moments in fresh ways, and open yourself to the richest experience possible.

Some of the meditation and silent retreats will request that you turn off your cell phone for the duration of your stay. In case of emergencies, loved ones will be able to reach you through ClearBeing’s phone line.
